Construction number 10164. Built in 1960.
Registered in the Netherlands as PH-FCC, N.V. Koninklijke
Nederlandse Vliegtuigenfabriek (KNV) Fokker, December 20,
1960. First flight on December 12, 1960.
Registered in Pakistan as AP-ALN for Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA). Delivered to PIA on January 19,
1961. Registration PH-FCC cancelled on January 26,
1961. On July 5, 1994, AP-ALN was operating PIA flight
PK-684 from Islamabad to Dera Ismail Khan with 4 four crew
members and 38 passengers onboard. The flight crew were
faced with no.1 engine problems on final approach. The
approach was continued, but poor alignment with the runway
forced the crew to go-around. The no.2 engine was set at
full power and gears and flaps were retracted, but the
aircraft continued to lose height. A turn was made to avoid
a river and the F27 touched down in a paddy field. The
aircraft slid for 300m before colliding with a tree. All 4
crew members and 38 passengers survived the accident.
Aircraft damaged beyond repair. Registration AP-ALN
removed from Pakistan Aircraft Register on September 21,
1994. |
