Registered in the Netherlands as PH-FCB, N.V. Koninklijke
Nederlandse Vliegtuigenfabriek (KNV) Fokker, December 9,
1960. First flight on December 9, 1960. Registered in
Pakistan as AP-ALM for Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA). Delivered to PIA on January 3, 1961. Registration
PH-FCB cancelled on January 13, 1961. On August 6, 1970,
AP-ALM took off from Rawalpindi for a 44-minute flight to
Lahore. About three minutes after take-off, the aircraft
exploded in mid-air at 2:17 AM in a thunderstorm, crashed
into the ground, left wing low at high speed and was
destroyed. Weather was bad at the time of the accident:
thunderstorms in heavy rainfall and gusty winds. All 4 crew
members including Capt. Anwarullah and 26 passengers died in this accident. Registration AP-ALM
removed from Pakistan Aircraft Register on December 28,
1970. |
